Privacy Policy

Effective 22 September 2026. This notice describes the current The Hi-Fi Atlas website.

Browsing and hosting

Our hosting and security providers (OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure) process connection information, such as IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time, to deliver and protect the website. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles. Infrastructure logs are governed by provider retention and security controls.

Your choices and browser storage

Embedded social media is enabled automatically unless you have saved a preference to switch it off. Analytics remains off until you explicitly enable it. We save your settings in local storage under atlas-consent-v1. Analytics permission expires after 180 days; your media setting remains until you change it or clear browser site data. Continuing past the notice does not enable analytics. Directory navigation may use session storage, which ends with the browser session. These settings are local to your browser and are not a visitor identifier. Read the storage details or change your preferences.

Embedded media and external links

Instagram posts and YouTube thumbnails can load automatically near the content you browse, and selected directory highlights may load in the background. Audio and video players load when you press play. These connections let Instagram (Meta), YouTube (Google) and SoundCloud receive your IP address, browser details and page context before you make a choice in our preferences. A previously saved media opt-out blocks these connections. Their players, thumbnails and scripts may use cookies or similar storage, and your account status with those services may affect processing. YouTube players use its privacy-enhanced embed domain, which does not make playback anonymous. Instagram account links do not load a feed. Original provider links remain available with media disabled. External retailers and other websites operate under their own notices when you visit them. Providers may process information internationally.

Optional analytics

With analytics enabled we count page views, directory interactions, media activations and outbound or affiliate clicks. Counts are grouped by day, event, page and an editorial record or retailer identifier. We do not store your IP address, a persistent visitor ID, your search words, full outbound URLs, or a browsing history tied to you in analytics. Counts are retained for up to 180 days, with older counts removed on the next analytics write. Our server receives normal connection data while processing the request. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track disable this optional collection.

Suggestions and enquiries

We store submitted venue details and messages privately for editorial review or to respond to your request. An email address is optional for enquiries and is used to reply, not to enrol you in marketing. Do not submit sensitive information. To reduce abuse we process the submitting IP transiently and store a daily keyed network hash and a duplicate-content hash. We use this information to operate and protect the service and respond to requests. Submissions currently remain until editorial deletion; we review whether they are still needed. You can request deletion through the contact form. Public venue facts may be incorporated into profiles; private contact details are not published.

Advertising, affiliate links and newsletters

No display-advertising scripts or newsletter collection are currently installed. Links labelled as affiliate links can earn us a commission; following a link may allow a retailer or affiliate network to attribute a purchase under its own privacy practices. On-site advertising tracking is disabled. We will update this notice and privacy controls before introducing new collection.

Access, correction and deletion

Use the contact form to ask about information you supplied, request correction or deletion, change your media preference, withdraw analytics consent, or raise a concern. Include enough context to locate a submission; never send passwords or identity documents. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, object to processing, restrict processing, or complain to your privacy regulator. Disabling media or analytics stops future loading or collection for that category; it cannot undo data already sent to a provider or remove that provider’s cookies. Use browser or provider controls for those.
